Field announced for 2026 GLIAC Men's Basketball Tournament

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) released the bracket for the 2026 men's basketball tournament Saturday, following the completion of the regular season schedule.

The tournament is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, March 4 with four quarterfinal games at campus sites.

Northern Michigan (25-5, 16-4 GLIAC) captured a share of the GLIAC regular season title and earned the No. 1 seed for the conference tournament. The Wildcats, which are led by senior forward Dylan Kuehl, the conference's leader in field goal percentage (.567), will host eighth-seeded Ferris State (10-17, 7-13 GLIAC) in Marquette at 7:30 p.m. 

Michigan Tech (25-5, 16-4 GLIAC), the GLIAC regular co-champions, is the No. 2 seed. The Huskies are set to face No. 7 seed Davenport (14-14, 8-12 GLIAC) in Houghton at 5:30 p.m. The first round contest will feature a head-to-head matchup of the GLIAC's top two scorers in DU's Ken Walker (21.5 ppg) and Tech's Marcus Tomashek (21.4 ppg). 

Third-seeded Grand Valley State (22-6, 15-5 GLIAC) will open tournament play at home in Allendale versus No. 6 Wayne State (13-13, 10-10 GLIAC). The Lakers top the conference in offensive rebounding (13.3 rpg). 

Lake Superior State (17-11, 12-8 GLIAC) is the No. 4 seed. The Lakers will meet No. 5 Purdue Northwest (14-13, 10-10 GLIAC) at 7 p.m. in Sault Ste Marie. 

The highest remaining seed following the quarterfinals will host the semifinals and the championship games on March 7 and 8, respectively.
