GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following the sixth week of competition of the 2026 cross country season. Flynn Pumpa of Grand Valley State and Allie Arnsman, also of Grand Valley State, earned honors.
ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Flynn Pumpa, Grand Valley State
Flynn Pumpa also ran his way to his second GLIAC Cross Country Athlete of the Week honor this season. His 23:31 8k showed steady improvement, besting his previous personal best by six seconds, the same personal best that earned him his last honor, for his effort at the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invite. A 2:53, along with a pair of 2:51 kilometers in the second half of the race earned Pumpa a fourth place finish at the Bradley Pink Classic, the Lakers taking second.
ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Allie Arnsman, Grand Valley State
Allie Arnsman earned her second GLIAC Cross Country Athlete of the Week honor this season, coming off of a 20:06 6k effort, the fastest in her prestigious career to date. It's a 25 second personal best, besting her 20:31 6k that landed her third in the conference in last year's GLIAC Championships in Grand Rapids. After staying strong in a field filled with DI talent, she closed in a 3:16 last kilometer, earning third place. She helped lead the Lakers to a 2nd place finish at the Bradley Pink Classic.
