GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following the first week of competition of the 2026 cross country season. Davenport's Luke Oyster and Parkside's Joie Kooima received honors for their standout performances. 

MALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Luke Oyster, Davenport
Junior Luke Oyster placed second at the 7th Annual Northwood Invitational, crossing the line in 20:16.4 to record a college best and pace the Panthers to a team victory with 38 points. The Shelby Township, Michigan, native led Davenport with his runner-up finish.

FEMALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Josie Kooima, Parkside
Josie Kooima has been selected as the GLIAC Cross Country Athlete of the Week following her first collegiate victory at the Ken Wiedt Invitational on Saturday. Koomia bested a field of 94 participants to take home the title. She finished the 6k race in 23:22.8, with an average mile time of 6:16.2. Josie’s result also helped Parkside to a second place team finish in the eight team event.
