GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) announced the results of the 2025 women's soccer preseason poll on Friday, Aug. 22.
The poll was determined by a vote of the league coaches.
Grand Valley State was selected No. 1, receiving six first-place votes and totaling 62 points. The Lakers lost just one game a year ago, posting a 15-1-8 record, and advanced to the NCAA Quarterfinals.
Guided by first-year head coach Katelyn Longino, GVSU returns 15 players from 2024, including five players that started in the Elite Eight match.
Saginaw Valley State polled in second place, earning 51 points and one first-place vote. The Cardinals went 6-3-5 in GLIAC play last season, advancing to the GLIAC Tournament title game.
Just two points separated the third and fourth place teams, Ferris State (48) and Northern Michigan (46). The Bulldogs, which received one first-place vote, won seven conference matches in 2024 while the defending regular season and tournament champion Wildcats welcome a new head coach, Erin Egolf, and 14 freshmen to its roster.
Davenport placed fifth in the preseason poll, accruing 41 points and one-first place vote. The Panthers lost just two GLIAC matches in 2024 (5-2-7) and knocked off Ferris State in the first round of the GLIAC Tournament.
Michigan Tech and Purdue Northwest tied for sixth with each team collecting 24 points.
Parkside (19 points) and Roosevelt (9) rounded out the poll.
