GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Davenport University Executive Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Paul Lowden announced today (June 23) that Brad Koch will be the next head coach of the softball program. Koch comes to DU from Aquinas College, where he served as the head coach for nine seasons.
"Brad's winning record as a head coach, his approach to building successful teams, and his emphasis on helping student-athletes develop athletically and personally impressed us throughout the search," Lowden said. "In addition, Brad has an expansive softball network which has aided in his success as a collegiate coach. We look forward to seeing the positive impact he will have on our team and the exciting future ahead for DU softball under his leadership."
While with the Saints, he was named the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Coach of the Year twice (2018 and 2021), leading Aquinas to conference championships in both of those seasons. In 2018, his staff was named the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Regional Coaching Staff of the Year.
Koch finishes his nine seasons at AQ with an overall record of 290-138-1, which is a .677 winning percentage.
Prior to being the head coach with the Saints, Koch was the Assistant and Associate head coach for the squad. He also spent four years as the head softball coach at Kenowa Hills High School.
