FSU's Kozlowski and SVSU's Irelan recognized as GLIAC softball player and pitcher of the week

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following the 10th week of the 2025 softball season. Ferris State sophomore first baseman Alexis Kozlowski was honored as GLIAC Player of the Week while Saginaw Valley State junior hurler Macy Irelan earned GLIAC Pitcher of the Week accolades.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Alexis Kozlowski, Ferris State
Ferris State University first baseman Alexis Kozlowski had a big week as FSU posted a 3-1 record and stayed in second place in the GLIAC standings. Kozlowski tallied a team-seven hits and six RBI’s as FSU swept Davenport at home on Wednesday before garnering a league road split against first-place Saginaw Valley State on Saturday. She hit .538 for the week in four games and scored twice while also drawing a walk and posting a home run. For the week, she compiled a .769 slugging percentage and .571 on-base figure. The sophomore standout drove in four runs on two hits with a home run to open the week in a win over Davenport and also had five total hits and two RBI’s in a two-game road set at SVSU on Saturday.
PITCHER OF THE WEEK: Macy Irelan, Saginaw Valley State
Macy Irelan completed the week going 2-0 in the circle for the Cardinals. The junior began with a 4-2 win over Findlay on the road, where she set a career-high for strikeouts in a game with 17 against the Oilers. It was the seventh time this season that she struck out 10+ batters in a single game. She followed that performance up with her second no-hitter in a 13-0 win in game two of the doubleheader at Davenport on Friday. She was three walks away from a perfect game and made it eight double-digit strikeout performances of the season, with 10 Panthers sitting down on strikes. Irelan currently ranks third in NCAA Division II in WHIP, fourth in hits allowed per seven innings, fifth in strikeouts per seven innings, 11th in strikeout-to-walk ratio, 16th in strikeouts, and 17th in ERA.
