GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following the ninth week of the 2025 softball season. Grand Valley State junior catcher/first baseman Elizabeth Wesoloski earned GLIAC Player of the Week recognition while Saginaw Valley State junior hurler Macy Irelan received GLIAC Pitcher of the Week recognition.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Elizabeth Wesoloski, Grand Valley State
Elizabeth Wesoloski has been named the GLIAC player of the week for the first time this season. Wesoloski hit 6-12 for a .500 average with three home runs, seven runs batted in, and five runs scored to help GVSU go 3-1 in GLIAC play over the weekend. The junior batted 3-3 with a home run, three runs batted in, and a run scored in game one of the doubleheader against Ferris State. Wesoloski launched two home runs with four RBIs in the 12-4 win in game one against Davenport. She added a hit, and two runs scored to help the Lakers complete the doubleheader sweep in game two over Davenport.
PITCHER OF THE WEEK: Macy Irelan, Saginaw Valley State
Macy Irelan threw a no-hitter for the Cardinals in her 15th start of the season to earn a win in game one against Parkside on Saturday. Irelan was dominant as she was just two walks shy of a perfect game after a complete seven innings of work where she sat seven Rangers down on strikes. She improves to 13-3 for the season and continues to lead the GLIAC in ERA, opposing batting average, strikeouts, wins, and fewest runs allowed. She currently is third in NCAA Division II in WHIP with 0.74, fourth in hits allowed per seven innings with 3.68, and sixth in strikeouts per seven innings with 9.9.
