Parkside's Johnson and Saginaw Valley State's Irelan repeat as GLIAC softball player and pitcher of the week

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following the seventh week of the 2025 softball season. For the second consecutive week, Parksidie junior catcher/infielder Mia Johnson received GLIAC Player of the Week recognition while Saginaw Valley State junior hurler was awarded Macy Irelan GLIAC Pitcher of the Week.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Mia Johnson, Parkside
The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference has selected Mia Johnson as the GLIAC Softball Player of the Week for the second week in a row. Johnson was a force at the plate for the Rangers after another outstanding offensive week. Johnson was once again unstoppable at the plate this past week. She would go 7 for 11 at the dish, with all seven hits going for extra bases. She also clubbed five home runs, including a walk off grand slam against Wayne State on Saturday. Her seven hits were good enough for nine RBIs. She recorded a .818 OBS through the week and held an astonishing 2.182 slugging percentage. Even with teams trying to work around her, Johnson still reached base on nine walks and accounted for nine Ranger runs. In the field Johnson was automatic. She was a perfect 25 for 25 on putouts while playing at third base and catcher for the Rangers.
PITCHER OF THE WEEK: Macy Irelan, Saginaw Valley State
Macy Ireland went a perfect 3-0 on the week with two starts and struck out 29 batters on her way to helping the Cardinals to a 7-1 mark in conference play. She leads the GLIAC in complete games with 10 and is third in the country in hits allowed per seven innings and strikeouts per seven innings. Irelan's WHIP is also third best in the nation, and she ranks second in the league in ERA, 18th in NCAA Division II.
