GVSU's Rothe and Waeghe earn GLIAC women's lacrosse player of the week honors

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following the eighth week of play of the 2025 women's lacrosse season. Grand Valley State senior midfielder Ashleigh Rothe was named GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week while Grand Valley State junior defender Kylie Waeghe was awarded GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week. 

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Ashleigh Rothe, Grand Valley State
For the second time this season, senior Ashleigh Rothe has been named the GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week. Rothe helped lead the Lakers to two league victories this weekend, defeating Concordia-St. Paul and Northern Michigan. In the two games, she recorded 13 points on nine goals and four assists. She added six draw controls, three ground balls, and one caused turnover. On Friday, Rothe tallied a hat trick and two assists in the 17-10 victory at CSP. Then on Sunday, she tied a career-high with six goals, dishing out two assists, and grabbing six draw controls to help the Lakers defeat Northern Michigan in overtime. This season, Rothe leads GVSU in goals (28), assists (14), points (42), and draw controls (42).
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Kylie Waeghe, Grand Valley State
Kylie Waeghe was selected as the GLIAC’s Defensive Player of the Week, the second time she has earned that in her career. The junior tallied four groundballs, two draw controls, and caused one turnover over two Laker victories. She had two groundballs on Friday at Concordia-St. Paul, then added two more groundballs, two draw controls, and one caused turnover in the overtime win at Northern Michigan. Waeghe has recorded a team-high 21 groundballs and she is third with nine caused turnovers.
