PNW's Madura and WSU's Long named GLIAC softball pitcher and player of the week

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following the fifth week of the 2025 softball season. Purdue Northwest freshman infielder Kylie Madura was selected GLIAC Player of the Week while Wayne State sophomore hurler Sydney Long earned GLIAC Pitcher of the Week recognition. 
PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Kylie Madura, Purdue Northwest
Purdue Northwest softball freshman Kylie Madura was electric for the Pride in her first trip to sunshine state for the Florida games. She finished the weekend with a .423 batting average on 11 hits, two RBIs, scoring five runs, and tallied one double and two triples. She is also on a current 7-game hitting streak for the Pride. She was called into action in Florida as she played in four different positions notching 11 putouts, seven assists and no errors for a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage in the Florida Spring Games.
PITCHER OF THE WEEK: Sydney Long, Wayne State
Sophomore Sydney Long (Grand Blanc, Mich.) went 1-0 with a complete game shutout in two starts and three total appearances.  Long compiled a 1.62 ERA and had 15 strikeouts to two walks in 13 innings of work.  She allowed just 12 hits and limited opposing batters to a .231 average. Long allowed three earned runs in five innings with three strikeouts against Indiana (Pa.).  Her work allowed the Warrior bats to come alive at the end for a 6-5 victory in eight innings. She tossed two innings of scoreless relief against Shepherd but saved her best for last. Facing a Saint Michael's squad that had scored 11 runs in its two games the day before, Long struck out 10 and did not walk a batter, while allowing five hits in the six-inning 9-0 triumph.
