NMU's Lakosky and GVSU's Ferrie honored as GLIAC women's lacrosse players of the week

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following the sixth week of play of the 2025 women's lacrosse season. Northern Michigan sophomore attacker Josie Lakosky was awarded GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week honors for the second consecutive week while Grand Valley State graduate student defender Elora Ferrie earned GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week recognition.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Josie Lakosky, Northern Michigan
For the second consecutive week, sophomore forward Josie Lakosky has earned GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week, as announced by the conference today. Lakosky, who set a program record for the most points in a single game with her 10 points against Missouri Western on March 7, smashed that record just eight days later, posting 13 points in a 20-9 win over Lewis. Lakosky was on a tear, breaking the previous single-game record with 23 minutes left in the game before notching 13 points on the outing with her seven goals and six assists. Lakosky tied her single-game career-best seven goals and set a program-best single-game six assists on the historic outing. Lakosky now has 29 goals and 13 assists for 42 points in seven games in the 2025 campaign, and has hit 100 career points (74-26--100) in 25 career games, matching her 2024 season total of 13 assists in 11 fewer games.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Elora Ferrie, Grand Valley State
For the first time in her career, GVSU women’s lacrosse senior defender Elora Ferrie was named GLIAC Defender of the Week. Ferrie was a key part of the Laker backline that was stellar in two weekend victories. Ferrie totaled five groundballs and caused one turnover in the two games. In the 9-5 victory over Walsh, Ferrie picked up two groundballs and caused one turnover, as part of a defensive effort that held the Cavaliers to four goals less than their season average. On Saturday, the Lakers took down Ashland 13-11, with Ferrie notching three ground balls in the win.
