GLIAC teams excel at NCAA DII Swimming and Diving National Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – GLIAC swimming and diving programs delivered strong performances at the NCAA Division II National Championships, earning multiple All-America honors and setting program records. Grand Valley State, St. Cloud State, Northern Michigan, Saginaw Valley State, Davenport, and Augustana were all represented, with standout finishes including national titles, top team placements, and historic achievements for their programs.

Davenport University
Davenport University was represented at the NCAA Division II National Championships with a group of qualifiers from both the men's and women's swimming and diving teams. On the women's side, Nadia Jastrzabek, Alicja Pinkowicz, and Ella Wagner competed in individual events, while the 200 medley relay team also participated. Grand Valley State University

St. Cloud State University
St. Cloud State University’s men’s team had its best finish in program history, placing eighth overall with 159 points and 12 All-American performances. Over the four-day meet, the Huskies set five new school records. Fifth-year senior Raf Hendriks led the way with a runner-up finish in the 200 backstroke and earned six All-America honors, bringing his career total to 24. The team had standout performances in both individual and relay events, with Mason Beck setting a new program record in the 100 free and Lance Godard breaking the school record in the 100 fly. Northern Michigan University
Northern Michigan had several standout performances, finishing 13th in the men's team standings and 16th on the women's side. Leo Nolles secured a bronze medal in the 50 and 100 freestyle events, earning First Team All-American status. On the women's side, Anika Wright placed eighth in the 1650 freestyle, while Camilla Carbone finished eighth in the 100 backstroke, both earning First Team All-American honors. Saginaw Valley State saw two swimmers earn All-American status at the championships. Benjamin Wainman finished eighth in the 1650 freestyle, earning First Team All-American honors. Alexa Hieber placed 15th in the same event, setting a new program record and being named Second Team All-American. Wayne State University

Wayne State’s men’s team finished 12th overall with 142.5 points, highlighted by strong performances in both swimming and diving events. Freshman William Debroux secured seventh place in the 1650 freestyle, while Gabriel Arias set a new school record in the 200 backstroke, placing 10th overall. The diving team was a key contributor, with Julio Osuna finishing second in the 1-meter dive, breaking a 42-year-old school record with a score of 602.00.
