GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following the third week of play of the 2025 women's lacrosse season. Grand Valley State senior midfielder Ashleigh Rothe has been named GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week while Concordia-St. Paul senior defender Meghan McGowan was recognized as GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Ashleigh Rothe, Grand Valley State
Senior midfielder Ashleigh Rothe had a career day in the Lakers season opener, setting a career-high scoring six goals and tying her career-high with eight points, while adding four draw controls and two assists. The Lakers earned a 13-9 victory over IUP in Sunday’s opener. Rothe scored twice in the first half, adding an assist in the opening 30 minutes. She had a monster second half, scoring four more times, including the eventual game-winner in the fourth.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Meghan McGowan, Concordia-St. Paul
Meghan McGowan earns her second GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week honor this season and has been pivotal in getting the Golden Bears to 3-1 on the season. This week she accumulated six ground balls and six caused turnovers in Concordia’s two home games against William Jewell and Rockhurst. McGowan currently leads the GLIAC in caused turnovers per game (2.5) and ground balls per game (3.5).
