SVSU's Sherman and Irelan earn GLIAC softball player and pitcher of the week honors

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following the second week of the 2025 softball season. Saginaw Valley State swept the honors, with sophomore Lillia Sherman earning GLIAC Player of the Week recognition and junior Macy Irelan receiving GLIAC Pitcher of the Week honors.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Lillia Sherman, Saginaw Valley State
Sherman enjoyed a fantastic debut weekend for SVSU. She leads the league with her .556 batting average, 1.000 slugging percentage, and 1.556 OPS. Sherman tied for a team-best four RBI through the first four games with a home run and a double to her credit. All four of her RBI came in game one of the doubleheader at 11th-ranked North Georgia where she was just a triple away from hitting of the cycle.
PITCHER OF THE WEEK: Macy Irelan, Saginaw Valley State
Irelan had a stellar debut weekend for the Cardinals as she made two appearances in the circle, completing both contests. She pitched for 12.2 innings and held a 3.32 ERA. She leads the GLIAC with 23 strikeouts, while having a 12.71 K/7 mark after two starts. Irelan also leads the league with the lowest opposing batting average of .163 with one of her starts coming against the 11th-ranked team in the country.
