GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following Week 11 of the 2025 football season. Northern Michigan swept the honors with redshirt freshman running back Noah Dobert (offensive player of the week), senior defensive back Jeremiah Gossett (defensive player of the week) and senior kicker/punter Michael Karlen (special teams player of the week) being recognized.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Noah Dobert, Northern Michigan
The GLIAC has once again recognized Northern Michigan running back Noah Dobert as the GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week, the third honor for the redshirt freshman following his historic finale against Wayne State. Dobert previously earned the award on Oct. 20 and Nov. 10, but Saturday’s performance came on an entirely different level. In one of the greatest rushing displays in Division II history, Dobert exploded for 406 yards and four touchdowns in NMU’s 45-11 rout of Wayne State, rewriting both program and national record books inside the Superior Dome. His 406 yards set a new NMU single-game rushing record, breaking Mark Bossuah’s 2007 mark of 317, and stands as the best single-game rushing performance in NCAA Division II this season and one of the top five all-time. He also broke NMU’s single-season rushing record and single-season rushing touchdown record in the same game, finishing the year with 1,656 yards and 15 touchdowns, surpassing the previous marks held by former All-American Jake Mayon (1,505 and 14). Dobert was electric all afternoon, ripping touchdown runs of 56, 52, 64, and 72 yards, averaging a staggering 12.7 yards per carry on 32 attempts. His final total fell just 19 yards shy of the NCAA Division II single-game rushing record (425), set in 2018. With his dominant finish, Dobert closed the season third in NCAA Division II in rushing yards (1,656) and third in rushing yards per game (150.5). He ended the year with 263 carries, averaging 6.3 yards per rush. Dobert’s performance also helped the Wildcats set a new team single-season rushing record (3,123 yards), smashing the program's previous mark of 2,660 set in 2018. It capped a two-game stretch in which NMU scored 92 points and earned back-to-back wins to end the season under interim head coach Billy Lindquist.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Jeremiah Gossett, Northern Michigan
On his senior day with the Wildcats, defensive back Jeremiah Gossett turned in a career game in Northern’s 45-11 victory over Wayne State. Gossett recorded his first interception of the season late in the first half, preventing the Warriors from adding points before the break. He’d go on to add another pick in the second half for a multi-interception outing to close the season. He finished his career with the Wildcats with 10 pass breakups, two interceptions, and two fumble recoveries.
SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Michael Karlen, Northern Michigan
Northern Michigan kicker Michael Karlen earned the GLIAC Special Teams Player of the Week following a 45-11 victory over Wayne State. In the win, Karlen was a perfect 6-6 on extra points on his Senior Day, putting him at 58-59 on the PAT to finish his career. Karlen also drilled a 41-yard field goal in the season finale, putting his total at nine points accounted for. He finished the season 21-21 on PATs and 5-7 on field goals.
