GVSU's Church and Kiley honored as GLIAC cross country athletes of the week

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following the fifth week of competition of the 2025 cross country season. Gramd Valley State swept the honors, with Báhozhóni Church and Lauren Kiley receiving recognition.

MALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Báhozhóni Church, Grand Valley State
For the first time in his career, Báhozhóni Church has received GLIAC Athlete of the Week honors. The Men’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week earned the title following his performance at the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational. The redshirt-junior led his team in the Men’s Blue Division 8k, crossing the finish line 20th at a personal-best time of 23:22.8. Fighting against 15 NCAA Division I institutions and top-ranked Wisconsin – La Crosse (NCAA DIII), the Lakers found a fifth-place team finish with 158 points, just behind Purdue’s 146.
FEMALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Lauren Kiley, Grand Valley State
Following her race at the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational, Lauren Kiley has been named the GLIAC Women’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week for the second time this season. Kiley raced in the Women’s Blue Division 5k against 179 other athletes, all of whom hailed from an NCAA Division I institution with the exception of her Grand Valley State teammates. The Canton, Michigan native led her team with a personal-best 5000m time of 16:30.3, crossing the finish line 15th overall. Adding just 14 points to the team score, the Lakers were awarded a fourth-place team finish with 161 points, placing higher than 16 NCAA DI institutions.
