WSU's Giroux and Dulgar, FSU's Davies receive GLIAC volleyball player of the week honors

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following Week 8 of the 2025 volleyball season. Senior middle blocker Kayla Giroux was named GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week, Ferris State redshirt freshman libero Hope Davies earned GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week accolades and Wayne State junior setter Kayla Dulgar was honored as GLIAC Setter of the Week.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Kayla Giroux, Wayne State
Kayla Giroux (Flat Rock, Mich.) was named GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week for the sixth time in her career and third instance this season on Monday.  Last week, Giroux helped lead Wayne State to its first win at Michigan Tech since 2016 and first road sweep of MTU and Northern Michigan since that same campaign.  The senior did so by hitting .419 with 33 kills (3.67 per set) and only seven errors on 62 total attacks.  Defensively, the veteran middle blocker totaled 13 blocks, seven of which were solo, or 1.44 per set.  That victory over the Huskies marked the Warriors' 15th of the season, their most in a single campaign since 2022.  With Saturday's thrilling five-set defeat of the Wildcats, WSU improved to 4-0 in five-set matches after going 1-11 in the last two seasons combined.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Hope Davies, Ferris State
Ferris State University redshirt freshman libero Hope Davies had an impressive week as the nationally-ranked Bulldogs stretched their winning streak to 11 consecutive matches. Davies finished the week with 35 digs while averaging 5.83 digs per set in back-to-back 3-0 wins over Davenport at Purdue Northwest at Bulldog Arena. She produced 21 digs in the win over the Panthers and 14 more against the Pride as Ferris State improved to 18-4 overall and 9-1 on top of the GLIAC.
SETTER OF THE WEEK: Kayla Dulgar, Wayne State
Kayla Dulgar (Warsaw, Ohio / River View) was also honored by the GLIAC for the sixth time in her career and third instance this fall on Monday.  In Wayne State's pair of road triumphs, Dulgar racked up 89 assists (9.89 per set), eight kills (.533 hitting percentage), nine aces, 17 digs and three block assists.  Among those nine aces came a career-high six aces on Friday at Michigan Tech.
