CHICAGO -- Roosevelt University Vice President for Athletics and Student-Athlete Success Mike Cassidy announced Jasmine Chambers as the Lakers new women’s volleyball head coach Tuesday.
Chambers joins Roosevelt after spending the 2025 season as the associate head coach at Newberry College in Newberry, South Carolina, a fellow NCAA Division II institution. Prior to working with the Wolves, Chambers was an assistant coach at South Carolina State for two seasons and was the head coach at Lamar Community College in Colorado for the 2022 campaign.
“I am incredibly honored and excited to accept the opportunity to serve as the head women’s volleyball coach at Roosevelt University,” said Chambers, who will officially start her new position Jan. 26. “I would like to sincerely thank Vice President for Athletics and Student-Athlete Success Michael Cassidy and the entire Roosevelt University Athletics Department for their trust and belief in my vision. Roosevelt’s commitment to academic excellence, competitive success, and student-athlete development truly aligns with my values. I am humbled by this opportunity and eager to begin building meaningful relationships with our student-athletes as we work together to grow the program and represent the University with pride.”
Chambers is a rising star in the coaching world and was one of 85 coaches selected to participate in the 2025 NCAA Women’s Coaches Academy. The three-day program – in partnership with WeCOACH and the NCAA – is designed to empower female coaches through advanced leadership development and team-building strategies.
In addition, Chambers is part of the Big Ten Volleyball Mentorship Program, where she is paired with Brad Keller from the University of Southern California. This program was dedicated to elevating diverse leaders in the coaching profession, connecting younger coaches with successful veteran counterparts.
“Roosevelt Athletics is welcoming a talented leader, tactician, educator and teammate with the hire of Coach Chambers,” said Cassidy. “Her past experience at various levels of collegiate volleyball, including most recently at Newberry in the highly-competitive South Atlantic Conference, will benefit our program and student-athletes in optimizing success on and off the court. I am eager for her to begin working with our current student-athletes and crafting a plan for 2026-27 and beyond.”
