2025 Davenport Women's Lacrosse Season Preview

Davenport University women’s lacrosse was tabbed third in the 2025 GLIAC Preseason Coaches Poll in the league’s first season featuring five teams after seven straight seasons of four programs.

Theadora Krueger, Blakely Malpass, Alyssa Bird, and Maddy Haynes return to the mix as this year’s captains, all four players leading the 2024 roster in multiple categories as All-Conference honorees. Haynes, Krueger, and Malpass were the leading goal scorers with 37, 31, and 30, respectively. Krueger remains a field general with a team-high 23 caused turnovers (sixth in GLIAC) and 63 draw controls (fourth in GLIAC).

Other notable returns include Brianna Rodriguez and Jade Remacle, both true freshmen in 2024, who were named Second Team All-GLIAC and Honorable Mention All-GLIAC honoree Gabby Basha. Rodriguez scored the fourth-most goals (19) for DU, with Basha’s 19 assists and Remacle’s 24 ground balls (fourth) and 25 draw controls (third) making an impact on the Panthers’ success.

Head coach Haley Schmucker and assistant coach Christine Steffes return to the coaching staff for the third and second seasons, respectively. The roster includes 26 athletes; nine true freshmen and 17 total returns.

DU will begin the season with a string of road tests. Between February and March, the Panthers are away for six straight contests starting Feb. 8, totaling eight road games and one at home (March 22 vs. Thomas More). Northern Michigan will be the first league foe DU faces in a matchup against the Wildcats in Marquette, Mich.

The Panthers travel to Quincy University on Saturday, Feb. 8, for an opening draw against the Hawks at 1 pm. EST.
