DETROIT -- Wayne State University Director of Athletics Erika Wallace has been selected as the national chair of the NCAA Division 2 Women's Basketball Committee.
"I'm honored to have been selected to chair seat on the D2 Women's Basketball committee," commented Wallace. "This is an unbelievable opportunity to give back to a sport that has given me so much. I am thankful that the leadership skills I developed playing collegiate basketball has helped me obtain this position. Twenty years ago, I was entering my sophomore year of college, getting ready to make an Elite 8 run. This is a full circle moment that I do not take for granted. I'm excited to collaborate with a committee that consists of some of the top Head Coaches and Administrators across the country. A huge thank you to these individuals for giving me this opportunity."
Wallace was a four-year basketball letterwinner (2003-07) in the GLIAC and was inducted into her alma mater's Hall of Fame in 2015. Wallace was a team captain when her squad won 22 consecutive games and a national title in 2005-06. She scored 1,409 points, which placed her in the top-five in program history when she graduated. Wallace's 223 three-pointers rank second all-time and her 39.3 three-point field goal percentage is the third-best mark in school history. She still holds two of the top seven spots for three-pointers made in a season in program history. Wallace still ranks in the top 10 in school history in assists, steals and games played.
During her four seasons in college, she led her team to a 93-32 overall, along with a 53-17 GLIAC mark, including two league regular-season titles.
Wallace was a member of the NCAA Softball Regional Advisory (Ranking) Committee (RAC) from 2021 to 2023, and has served as the Midwest Region chair on the D2 women's basketball committee the last two years.
