MTU's Tomashek and PNW's Gayman earn GLIAC men's basketball player of the week honors

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following the seventh week of the 2024-25 men's basketball season. Michigan Tech junior guard Marcus Tomashek was recognized as GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week while Purdue Northwest senior forward Dalton Gayman received GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week honors. 

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Marcus Tomashek, Michigan Tech
Michigan Tech men’s basketball junior guard Marcus Tomashek has been named GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week for Week Seven, the league announced Monday. This is the third Offensive Player of the Week honors for the Black & Gold and the second of the season for Tomashek. Tomashek, a native of Green Bay, Wisconsin, led the Huskies with 30 points, eight rebounds and two blocks in the 72-70 exhibition win against Green Bay in front of 5,207 fans for Education Day at the Resch Center on Wednesday afternoon (Dec. 18). Tomashek shot 7-for-20 from the field, 4-for-10 from 3-point land and 12-for-15 from the foul line against his hometown team. He poured on 17 points in the second period, including the last seven points for the Huskies to erase a 13-point second-half deficit and hand Green Bay its eighth-straight loss.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Dalton Gayman, Purdue Northwest
Senior Dalton Gayman was all over the court for the Pride this past weekend helping the squad go 1-1. Gayman finished the week averaging a double-double with 14 points per game and 13.5 rebounds per game while adding six assists, one steal, and two blocks. His highlight of the week came in a 93-71 win over East-West University where scored 15 points and grabbed a career-high 20 rebounds in the win. His 20 boards are the second-best in a single-game in program history.
