GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following the sixth week of the 2024-25 men's basketball season. Northern Michigan redshirt junior forward Dylan Kuehl was named GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week while Michigan Tech freshman forward Grant Warren earned GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week accolades.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Dylan Kuehl, Northern Michigan
Northern Michigan redshirt junior forward Dylan Kuehl has been named the GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week following a 19-point, 7-rebound performance in a 76-73 victory over No. 25 Upper Iowa in Wisconsin Dells. Kuehl paced the Wildcat offense with 19 points on 8-11 (72.7%) shooting and hit several key shots down the stretch to help NMU pull out the win. Kuehl has been on quite the run offensively for the ‘Cats, as it marked the the seventh straight game he’s scored at least 12 points, made five or more field goals, and shot at least 50.0% from the floor. Kuehl has scored in double figures in all but one game this season. He now ranks eighth in the conference in scoring (15.4), seventh in rebounds per game (6.6), and third in field goal percentage (53.0%). The Hustisford, Wisconsin native surpassed 1,000 career points earlier this season, becoming the 35th player in program history to reach the milestone.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Grant Warren, Michigan Tech
Michigan Tech men’s basketball first-year forward Grant Warren has been named the GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week for Week Six, the league office announced on Monday. This is the first honor of Warren’s career and the first Defensive Player of the Week honoree for the Huskies. Warren, a native of Wausau, Wisconsin, was one of six players to score in double-figures in the 106-43 win versus Northland to extend the Huskies' win streak to five games at the SDC Gymnasium on Saturday. Warren came off the bench for Michigan Tech and produced 11 points (5-for-7) while leading the Black & Gold with nine rebounds, seven on the defensive end, to go with two steals and a block in 18 minutes of action. The Huskies wrapped non-conference play on Saturday and hold an overall record of 7-3 while going 2-0 in the loop.
