GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following Week 10 of the 2024 volleyball season. Ferris State senior outside hitter Olivia Henneman-Dallape earned GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week accolades, Grand Valley State senior libero Julia Blaney was named GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week and Ferris State senior setter Kaylee Maat was recognized as GLIAC Setter of the Week.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Olivia Henneman-Dallape, Ferris State
Ferris State University senior outside hitter Olivia Henneman-Dallape had a big weekend as the top-ranked Bulldogs stayed unbeaten with a pair of impressive home sweeps over two of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula squads. Henneman-Dallape tallied a team-leading 34 kills to go with a .377 attack figure while adding 13 digs and two blocks in 3-0 sweeps over Michigan Tech and Northern Michigan at Bulldog Arena. She averaged 5.67 kills per set and notched 35.5 total points on the weekend. The Bulldog veteran posted 13 kills with seven digs and a block in Friday’s win over NMU before coming back with a match-high 21 kills, six digs and a block on Saturday in FSU’s final regular-season home match against MTU. The Bulldogs improved to a nation-best 26-0 overall this year with the two wins and need only a single more win to capture the outright GLIAC Championship with a perfect 15-0 league mark to date.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Julia Blaney, Grand Valley State
For the second time this season, GVSU senior libero Julia Blaney has been named GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week. Over two Laker victories, Blaney tallied 26 digs and two service aces. In Friday’s sweep of SVSU, Blaney recorded 12 digs and a service ace and helped the Laker defense hold the Cardinals to a -.009 hitting percentage. The following day, Blaney had 14 more digs and another service ace in the sweep over LSSU. Blaney currently ranks second in the conference with 426 digs and 4.84 digs per set.
SETTER OF THE WEEK: Kaylee Maat, Ferris State
Ferris State University senior setter Kaylee Maat had a big weekend as the nation’s top-ranked Bulldogs stayed perfect this year with back-to-back home wins in sweeps over Northern Michigan and Michigan Tech at Bulldog Arena. Maat became the GLIAC’s all-time career assists leader over the weekend and now has 5,466 assists in her FSU career. She posted 36 assists and seven digs in Friday’s win over NMU before coming back with 43 assists, four digs and two blocks on Saturday as the Bulldogs topped the Huskies on Senior Day in her final regular-season home match. For the weekend, she averaged an impressive 13.17 digs per set for the Bulldogs, who improved to a nation-best 26-0 overall and need only a single win to capture the outright GLIAC Championship with a current 15-0 league record.
