BAY CITY, Mich. -- A fixture in women's lacrosse as an official and administrator for over a decade, Mary Jane Evagash was recently named the coordinator of women's lacrosse officials for NCAA Division II and Division III conferences joining to help grow and support women's lacrosse in the region.
The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) and Great Midwest Athletic Conference of the NCAA Division II level join NCAA Division III's Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) in bringing on Evagash as not only an administrator, but an ambassador for women's lacrosse.
"I truly believe that when everyone involved with women's lacrosse understand all the rules of the game and what rule they play on the field that it creates better teachers, players, and facilitators which in turn makes the game more competitive and enjoyable for everyone," said Evagash.
In addition to working with the MIAA, GLIAC, and the GMAC, Evagash also works with the Ohio River Lacrosse Conference and Mountain East Conference for the last three seasons; she has also worked for the Women's College Lacrosse League since 2013 and has coordinated officials for several independent colleges since 2007.
Evagash, or "MJ" as she is called, has been officiating women's lacrosse for over ten years. As a conference coordinator of officials, Evagash is consistently recruiting officials to officiate the great game of women's lacrosse. Her passion for the game and providing the coaches, players and officials with the understanding of the rules have proved invaluable in limiting penalties providing for a smoother, more effective game.
