The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following Week 3 of the 2026 football season. Davenport running back Cephus Harris (Offensive Player of the Week), Michigan Tech linebacker Chase Koch (Defensive Player of the Week) and Michigan Tech kicker Avery Kucharski (Special Teams Player of the Week) were chosen for honors.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Cephus Harris, Davenport
Cephus Harris went over 100 yards for the fourth straight game on the ground to vault the No. 24 Panthers to a 4-0 start after a 42-7 thrashing of Northern Michigan in a non-conference win at the Superior Dome. Harris finished with 143 rushing yards and two touchdowns in the first half. He also caught his first TD pass of the season from Jonathan Palmer from 23 yards with 31 seconds left in the third quarter. Harris also led the Panthers with 53 receiving yards on three catches. He now has nine multi-TD games rushing in his DU career.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Chase Koch, Michigan Tech
Michigan Tech linebacker Chase Koch tallied a game-high 14 tackles in the Huskies 33-32 win over Upper Iowa. He had five solo tackles, nine assisted tackles, and one tackle for loss. He also registered a pair of blocked kicks—one on an extra point and the other on the game-tying field goal attempt at the end of regulation. Koch leads the GLIAC in solo tackles (25), assisted tackles (24), and total tackles (49). It’s his second weekly GLIAC honor of the season.
SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Avery Kucharski, Michigan Tech
Michigan Tech junior kicker Avery Kucharski hit a pair of field goals in the Huskies' 33-32 win over Upper Iowa. He hit from 41 in the third quarter and made his second 50-yarder of the season with 50 seconds left in regulation to tie the game. In overtime, he hit the walk-off game-winning extra point to lift the Black and Gold to victory—his third extra point of the game. Kucharski had three punts in the game for an average of 43 yards per punt and added six kickoffs, averaging 60 yards. Kucharski is 5-for-6 this season on field goals and has 11 extra points. He is averaging 40.6 yards on 14 punts and has 22 kickoffs, averaging 62 yards. It’s his second weekly GLIAC honor of the season.
