GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following the third full week of competition of the 2025-26 indoor track & field season. Grand Valley State athletes swept the honors with junior Joshua Hurt (men's track), redshirt sophomore Megan Postma (women's track), junior Dolan Gonzales (men's field), and redshirt senior Erika Beistle (women's field) earning recognition.
MEN'S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Joshua Hurt, Grand Valley State
After more than one year of attempts at a new personal-best in the 60m hurdles, Joshua Hurt completed the feat at this weekend’s GVSU Bill Clinger Classic, rightfully earning him GLIAC Track Athlete of the Week honors. After qualifying for the finals in the 60m hurdles with a first place finish at 8.07, Hurt had some time to prepare for notching a personal-best. In the finals, the junior flew through the 60m, finishing at a personal-best 7.95 – 0.04 faster than his previous PR. With the finish, Hurt ranks sixth in NCAA DII and third all-time at Grand Valley State.
WOMEN'S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Megan Postma, Grand Valley State
Megan Postma’s personal-best time in the mile at this weekend’s GVSU Bill Clinger Classic has earned her GLIAC Track Athlete of the Week honors. The redshirt sophomore completed her first lap in 1:13.21, maintaining a third place-pace. She completed two laps in 2:07.89, recording a 54.68 split in her second circle. Postma maintained a steady pace for her next 600m with splits at 56.01 and 56.55. In her final lap around the track, Postma shaved nearly four seconds off her pace, completing the final 300m in 52.88 to finish second overall at a personal-best 4:53.41. The finish currently places her 17th in NCAA Division II and first among her teammates.
MEN'S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Dolan Gonzales, Grand Valley State
Following a program-record breaking pole vault, Dolan Gonzales earns his first GLIAC Field Athlete of the Week honors of the 2026 Indoor Track and Field season. The new No. 1 NCAA DII pole vaulter conquered new heights this weekend with a 5.35m (17-6.5) mark at the GVSU Bill Clinger Classic. Opening competition at 4.97m (16-3.5) with just six others in the field, Gonzales climbed to 5.12m (16-9.5) and 5.22m (17-1.5) in just three combined attempts. On his third and final attempt at 5.35m, Gonzales soared over the bar with the entirety of the Kelly Family Sports Center cheering him on. The mark shattered Bryant Wilson’s 2007 program record and puts him right outside of the top-20 individuals in the NCAA Division II history books.
WOMEN'S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Erika Beistle, Grand Valley State
For the third consecutive week, Erika Beistle has been named GLIAC Women’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week. At this weekend’s GVSU Bill Clinger Classic, Beistle took down the NCAA Division II shot put record, throwing for 17.78m (58-4) to pass West Texas A&M’s Zada Swoopes, who set the record in 2022 at 17.68m (58-0). The feat earned the redshirt senior her second USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week mention during the indoor season, earning the title just one week prior following her GVSU program record-setting shot put. The Rodney, Mich. native ranks No. 3 among collegians and sixth in the world this year.
