FSU's Bower and Fowler and MTU's Kucharski garner GLIAC football player of the week honors

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following Week 2 of the 2025 football season. Ferris State redshirt freshman quarterback Wyatt Bower was recognized as GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week, Ferris State senior defensive lineman Tyrone Fowler received GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week honors and Michigan Tech sophomore kicker Avery Kucharski earned  GLIAC Special Teams Player of the Week accolades. 

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Wyatt Bower, Ferris State
Ferris State University redshirt freshman quarterback Wyatt Bower led the nationally top-ranked Bulldogs to their 17th consecutive victory with a 41-34 triumph over visiting Tiffin on Saturday night at Top Taggart Field. Bower accounted for 378 yards of total offense and five touchdowns in the win. He completed 15-of-23 throws for 232 yards and two scores while adding a game-high 20 carries for 146 yards and three TD's, which included a critical 75-yard touchdown run on the first play after TU had trimmed the FSU lead to two scores in the third period. Bower also capped the victory with a one-yard plunge with less than two minutes to go, pushing the margin back to two scores. The Bulldogs rolled up 534 yards of total offense under his direction.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Tyrone Fowler, Ferris State
Ferris State University senior defensive end Tyrone Fowler had a huge day in the top-ranked Bulldogs' 41-34 win over Tiffin on Saturday night at Top Taggart Field. The standout edge rusher compiled nine tackles in the game, including two tackles for loss, while adding a pair of sacks and two additional quarterback hurries. His play helped FSU win its 17th consecutive game dating back to last season.
SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Avery Kucharski, Michigan Tech
Michigan Tech sophomore kicker Avery Kucharski has been named the Week Two Special Teams Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday. This is his second career Player of the Week accolade. The Portage, Michigan, went two-for-two on field goals with a 35-yard make in the third quarter and a near career-high 44-yard field goal connection in the fourth quarter of the Huskies' 34-21 victory at Hillsdale to move Michigan Tech to 3-0 to start the season. He also went four-for-four on extra points, while having seven kickoffs averaging 57 yards with a touchback.
