2025 Wayne State Volleyball Season Preview

Picked to finish third out of 11 squads in 2025 by the conference's head coaches, the Wayne State University volleyball team enters year No. 12 under head coach Tim Koth this fall. WSU hasn't been picked that high overall since 2022 and 2018 before that. A season ago, the Warriors finished 14-13 overall, 11-5 in league play and hosted a GLIAC Tournament quarterfinal match as the fourth seed.

Coming in with a roster of 18, WSU returns three of its four 2024 All-GLIAC performers in senior middle Kayla Giroux (Flat Rock, Mich.), junior setter Kayla Dulgar (Warsaw, Ohio / River View) and senior libero Kendyl Andrews (Flushing, Mich.). Giroux was also named an AVCA Second Team All-American and CSC Second Team Academic All-American, the first in program history. Also back are junior outside hitter Katie Smith (Macomb, Mich. / Utica Eisenhower) and redshirt senior opposite Leigha Baldwin (Perrysburg, Ohio / Perrysburg [Purdue Fort Wayne]).

Schedule wise, Wayne State gets to play its first four matches at home as part of the Warrior Invitational on Sept. 5-6. Also in non-conference action, WSU will be at Daemen for three matches (Sept. 12-13) and of course, the Midwest Regional Crossover for three outings (Oct. 17-18). The team's GLIAC slate will feature 16 matches, eight at home and eight on the road.
