The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) released the 2025 Preseason Poll today. After a sixth-place finish last year, the Parkside Rangers were selected to finished sixth this season.
The Rangers will return multiple key contributors to their lineup, including the biggest defensive threat in the GLIAC. Natalie Harris is entering her junior season, following a stellar sophomore season where she earned GLIAC Defensive Player of the Year. Harris totaled 496 digs, resulting in 4.96 digs per set. After her remarkable season, Harris earned First-Team All-GLIAC honors.
In addition, the Rangers return two other All-GLIAC players. Sam Fisch, a junior returns after earning First-Team All-GLIAC honors. Fisch totaled 363 kills ranking 7th in the GLIAC, while tied for 10th in total blocks, recording 60. Furthermore, Mariena Coon earned Honorable Mention All-GLIAC after recording 83 kills and 74 blocks, tied for seventh most in the GLIAC.
Returning multiple key players, Barea is excited to showcase their talent across the GLIAC. “Our returning players are one of our greatest strengths, with key contributors like Natalie Harris, Sam Fisch, and Ava Irvin —who is coming back from injury—ready to make an impact,” stated Barea. “We expect bright moments ahead, especially with our defensive intensity, which we believe will continue to frustrate teams across the GLIAC both at the net and in the back row. Natalie, the reigning GLIAC Defensive Player of the Year, will lead us and we’ve brought in several key additions to further strengthen our ball control and defensive presence across the court."
The GLIAC competition will begin on September 18 in Kenosha at De Simone Arena, where the Rangers will host Roosevelt University at 7:00 p.m.
