GLIAC athletes make waves at NCAA DII Indoor Track and Field Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The GLIAC showcased its strength on the national stage this past weekend at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field National Championships in Indianapolis. Grand Valley State led the way, finishing as the runner-up in the men’s team standings and securing third place on the women’s side. Alongside GVSU, Saginaw Valley State, Parkside, and Wayne State each had standout performances, with multiple athletes earning All-America honors and setting new milestones for their programs.

Grand Valley State wrapped up the 2025 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships with strong performances, earning the men's national runner-up title (61.5 points) and the women's third-place finish (47 points). The Lakers claimed 23 podium spots, with standout performances from national champions Eli Kosiba (men’s high jump), Myles Kerner (men’s shot put), Kaylee Diamond (women’s high jump), and Lauren Kiley (women’s 3000m). Kiley and teammate Natalie Graber finished first and second in the 3000m, securing 18 points. The men's high jump squad dominated, scoring 26.5 points with four top-six finishes. Other highlights included Dolan Gonzales earning All-America honors in pole vault, Sam Allen and Scott Spaanstra placing in the men’s 800m, and the women’s 4x400m relay team finishing eighth. Wisconsin Parkside made a strong showing at the 2025 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships, with both Rachel Blaskowski and Sean Waldvogel earning All-American honors. Blaskowski secured her second career All-American award with a seventh-place finish in the long jump, recording a mark of 5.97m (19'7"). Waldvogel impressed in the 800 meters, first advancing to the finals with a strong closing lap before making history as Parkside’s first male All-American since 2006 with an eighth-place finish (1:51.32). Saginaw Valley State University freshman high jumpers Sawyer Moloy and Xavier Santiago made their NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field National Championships debut, showcasing their burgeoning potential on the national stage. Moloy made an impressive start by clearing 2.11 meters on his first attempt; however, he fell short at 2.14 meters, ultimately finishing ninth—just one spot away from All-America recognition. Meanwhile, Santiago cleared 2.01 meters on his third attempt, concluding the competition in 18th place. Wayne State University senior Emily Gordon (Northville, Mich.) took to the track on Friday afternoon at the 2025 NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field National Championships, competing in the 800-meter prelims. Gordon clocked a time of 2:14.56, securing a 16th-place finish in a highly competitive field. Despite a strong effort, she fell short of the 2:08.56 needed to advance to Saturday’s finals and the 2:09.62 mark required for All-America honors. Nonetheless, her appearance at the national championships capped off an impressive season, highlighting her dedication and achievements in her senior campaign. – Wayne State Article
