GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following the 12th week of the 2024-25 women's basketball season. Grand Valley swept the honors, with redshirt junior guard Paige Vanstee receiving GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week honors and redshirt junior guard Nicole Kamin earning GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week accolades.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Paige Vanstee, Grand Valley State
Two weeks after earning her first career GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week honors, GVSU redshirt junior Paige Vanstee was selected for the first Offensive Player of the Week honors this week. Vanstee helped lead the Lakers to a 2-0 roadtrip, taking down Northern Michigan and Michigan Tech. The Middleville, Michigan native, paced the team with 34 points, shooting 71% from the floor, while adding nine boards. She scored a season-high 20 points, hitting 7-8 shots, including three three-pointers, in the 74-48 victory at NMU. That was followed up on Saturday by tying for the team lead with 14 points and pulling down a team-high eight rebounds to help GVSU defeat the Huskies 69-51. This season, Vanstee is averaging 7.8 points and is tied for second in field goal percentage, hitting 50.8% from the floor.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Nicole Kamin, Grand Valley State
Closing out the weekly awards sweep was Nicole Kamin, who won the first GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week honors of her Laker career. Kamin tallied 26 points, 15 rebounds, seven steals, six assists, and a block across two Laker victories. On Thursday in Marquette, Kamin stuffed the stat sheet, recording 12 points, seven rebounds, five steals, and five assists in the 74-48 win over the Wildcats. She then was tied for the team lead with 14 points, adding eight boards, a steal, and a block to help GVSU defeat Michigan Tech 69-51 on Saturday. The 48 points for NMU and the 51 for MTU were both teams second-lowest scoring outputs of the season. So far this year, Kamin is second in the conference, and 26 th nationally, with 55 steals. She is tied for second on the team in both points per game (9.0) and rebounds per game (4.4).
