NMU's Weisbrod and GVSU's Bisballe honored as GLIAC women's basketball players of the week

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following the 13th week of the 2024-25 women's basketball season. Northern Michigan redshirt junior guard Jacy Weisbrod earned GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week recognition while Grand Valley State senior forward Rylie Bisballe was awarded GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week honors. 

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Jacy Weisbrod, Northern Michigan
For the second time this season, Northern Michigan junior Jacy Weisbrod has been named the GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week. Weisbrod helped guide the Wildcats to a pair of road key wins, first scoring 23 points on 8-13 (61.5%) shooting with four triples and six rebounds in a 69-59 victory at Saginaw Valley. She followed that up with 12 points on 5-11 (45.5%), adding two rebounds and three assists in a 66-61 triumph of Wayne State. The La Crosse, Wisconsin native is seventh in the conference averaging 13.7 points per game. She has been the most prolific threat from beyond the arc of all GLIAC players, pacing the league and sitting at 11th in the nation by knocking down 2.78 threes per game at a clip of 37.3%.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Rylie Bisballe, Grand Valley State
Already a three-time GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week this year, senior Rylie Bisballe earned her first Defensive Player of the Week honors of the season. Over two Laker wins, Bisballe scored 29 points, grabbed 15 reounds, had three assists, three blocks, and two steals. In Thurday’s 83-41 win over LSSU, Bisballe played just 16 minutes, yet still tallied 16 points, two rebounds, and two steals. The Lakers forced 27 turnovers and held LSSU to just 32% shooting. On Saturday, Bisballe totaled her third double double of the season, posting 13 points and 13 rebounds. She also added three blocks and two assists in the 78-57 GVSU victory. Also on Saturday, Bisballe moved into the top five in program history in both rebounds (829) and made field goals (572).
