Parkside's Polavin and Harris, GVSU's Orlet honored as GLIAC volleyball players of the week

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following Week 9 of the 2025 volleyball season. Parkside freshman outside hitter/right side Avary Polavin earned GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week accolades, Parkside junior libero Natalie Harris was selected as GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week and Grand Valley State freshman setter Gabby Orlet was tabbed GLIAC Setter of the Week. 

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Avary Polavin, Parkside
Freshman Avary Polavin has earned her first-ever GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week Award after breakout weekend in two Ranger wins. The freshmen hit .356 for Parkside over the two three-set sweeps of Northern Michigan and Michigan Tech. Polavin had 28 kills over the two matches, averaging 4.67 kills per set. She led the Rangers in kills, kills per set and was second on the team in hitting percentage. She also had four blocks to lead the Rangers with 30 total points. This is a GLIAC leading fifth time that the Rangers have earned the Offensive Player of the Week Award. 
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Natalie Harris, Parkside
Junior Natalie Harris has been named the GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week for the third time this season, tied for the most of any position group. Harris led the Rangers with 40 digs over the two three-set sweeps of Northern Michigan and Michigan Tech. Harris averaged 6.67 digs per set over the two wins. She has the most digs in the GLIAC this season with 444 which is 93 above the next athlete on the list.
SETTER OF THE WEEK: Gabby Orlet, Grand Valley State
After making the first two starts of her collegiate career this past weekend, Grand Valley State freshman Gabby Orlet has been named the GLIAC Setter of the Week. Across two Laker victories, Orlet totaled 74 assists, 22 digs, six kills, six blocks, and two service aces. She tallied 29 assists, nine digs, three blocks, and one service ace in the Lakers’ sweep over Davenport on Friday. The following day, Orlet posted a career-high 45 assists, adding 13 digs, five kills, three blocks, and one service ace to help GVSU .defeat fifteenth-ranked Ferris State in five sets.
