GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following Week 5 of the 2025 football season. Ferris State redshirt freshman Wyatt Bower was selected as GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week, Saginaw Valley State senior linebacker Christian Boivin was awarded GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week honors and Ferris State junior placekicker Eddie Jewett was recognized as GLIAC Special Teams Player of the Week.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Wyatt Bower, Ferris State
Redshirt freshman quarterback Wyatt Bower led the top-ranked Bulldogs to an impressive 66-0 road triumph at Roosevelt on Saturday while accounting for six touchdowns in the win. Bower tossed five touchdown passes and ran for a score as FSU rolled up a school-record 788 yards of total offense in the victory. The standout signal caller threw TD passes of 51, 50 and 40 yards to senior Cam Underwood on Ferris State’s first three offensive possessions as FSU built a 21-0 lead after the opening period. He added touchdown throws of 63 yards and two yards in the second period in addition to a 10-yard keeper of his own on the ground as the lead grew to 42-0 at halftime. For the game, Bower completed 20-of-28 passes for 371 yards and he averaged nine yards per carry as the Bulldogs tied a school record with their 19th consecutive win overall dating back to last year.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Christian Boivin, Saginaw Valley State
Christian Boivin led the Cardinals with 12 tackles, five solo, plus a fumble recovery in the 47-25 win over Northern Michigan on Saturday. It is his second game this season with over 10 tackles. He anchored an SVSU defense that forced four turnovers, two sacks, and five tackles for loss. Boivin currently ranks 7th in the nation (1st in the GLIAC) in total tackles with 53 and is averaging 10.8 stops per contest. He also ranks in the top 30 (27th) in solo tackles this season.
SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Eddie Jewett, Ferris State
Ferris State University junior placekicker Eddie Jewett had a big afternoon as the top-ranked Bulldogs rolled past Roosevelt by a 66-0 score in their GLIAC opener in Arlington Heights, Ill. Jewett accounted for 12 total points of his own in the win, which was FSU’s 19th in a row dating back to last season and matched a school record. He went nine-of-nine in PAT attempts and added a 23-yard field goal in the victory. His play helped FSU build leads of 21-0 at the end of the opening quarter and 42-0 at halftime, lifting Ferris State to a 5-0 overall record this year.
