GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following Week 7 of the 2025 volleyball season. Parkside junior right side Sam Fisch was selected as GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week, Purdue Northwest senior libero Livia Thomsen was honored as GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week and Ferris State sophomore setter Hayley Wegener earned GLIAC Setter of the Week accolades.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Sam Fisch, Parkside
Parkside’s Sam Fisch has been named the GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week following a standout performance at the 2025 Midwest Region Crossover Tournament. Fisch helped lead the Rangers to a strong 2–1 showing over the weekend, showcasing her efficiency and consistency on offense. She opened the tournament on Friday with a career-high .531 hitting percentage in a five-set battle against Northwood, then topped that mark the next day by hitting .571 in Parkside’s sweep of Truman State. Across the three matches, Fisch totaled 40 kills, averaging 3.64 kills per set while hitting an exceptional .508 for the tournament. She also contributed seven blocks, demonstrating her all-around impact at the net.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Livia Thomsen, Purdue Northwest
Purdue Northwest Volleyball senior libero Livia Thomsen has been honored with this week’s GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week after her outstanding weekend of play at the Midwest Volleyball Crossover. Thomsen had a match high 23 digs in a three-set sweep over Mckendree followed up with a match high 29 digs against Drury in a five-set thrilling victory on Friday night. For the weekend, she had 76 digs averaging 5.84 digs a set to help the Pride go 3-0 at the Midwest Crossover and continues to show why she is one of top liberos in the conference. Her great weekend of play also earned her a spot on the Midwest Volleyball Crossover All-Tournament Team. This is Thomsen’s first GLIAC honor this season and third of her career.
SETTER OF THE WEEK: Hayley Wegener, Ferris State
Ferris State University sophomore setter Hayley Wegener had a big weekend as the 14th-ranked Bulldogs went 3-0 at the Midwest Region Crossover in Indiana. Wegener claimed all-tournament team recognition as FSU stretched its winning streak to nine consecutive matches and improved to 16-4 overall. She finished the weekend with 116 assists in 11 sets, averaging 10.55 assists per set. Overall, she also had 47 digs, 17 kills, eight blocks and an ace. She averaged 4.27 digs per set in addition to leading the offensive attack from the setter position. Wegener had a tourney-best 47 assists to go with 17 digs in FSU’s opening win over Maryville and came back with 39 assists and 17 digs in a 3-1 win over Walsh on Friday before closing the event with 30 assists and 13 digs as FSU swept Lewis 3-0 on Saturday.
