GVSU's Bisballe and FSU's Blanchard receive women's basketball player of the week honors

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following the eighth week of the 2024-25 women's basketball season. Grand Valley State senior forward Rylie Bisballe was selected for GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week recognition while Ferris State senior guard Kadyn Blanchard earned GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week honors. 

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Rylie Bisballe, Grand Valley State
For the third time this season, GVSU senior forward Rylie Bisballe has been named GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week. Across two Laker victories, Bisballe scored 37 points, on 14-24 from the floor, grabbed 14 rebounds, and added five assists.  Despite playing just 13 minutes in Thursday’s win over Michigan Tech, she had 15 points, shooting 6-9, and had three boards and an assist. To cap off the weekend, Bisballe tallied a season-high 22 points, hitting eight of 15 shots, while recording 11 rebounds for her first double-double of the season. Additionally, she dished out four assists to help GVSU defeat Northern Michigan and remain unbeaten in GLIAC play. This season, Bisballe has scored in double-figures in 13 of the 15 games, and is averaging 13.6 points. 
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Kadyn Blanchard, Ferris State
Ferris State University senior guard Kadyn Blanchard helped lead the Bulldogs to a pair of GLIAC home wins over the weekend. Blanchard tallied 15 points, seven rebounds, seven steals and six assists on Thursday evening in a 70-56 triumph over Saginaw Valley State and then came back with a team-high 16 points, 10 rebounds and five assists on Saturday in FSU's 82-65 win over visiting Wayne State. She also connected on four three-pointers in the win over the Warriors as Ferris State set a new school mark with 18 made treys. For the week, Blanchard averaged 15.5 points, 8.5 rebounds 5.5 assists and 3.5 steals as the Bulldogs improved to 10-3 overall and remained unbeaten in GLIAC play.
