GVSU's Bisballe and WSU's Tripp honored as GLIAC women's basketball players of the week

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following the sixth week of the 2024-25 women's basketball season. Grand Valley State senior forward Rylie Bisballe repeated as GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week while Wayne State senior forward Shea Tripp was selected for GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week recognition. 

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Rylie Bisballe, Grand Valley State
For the second consecutive week, GVSU senior forward Rylie Bisballe has been named GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week. Bisballe helped lead the Lakers to a 2-0 record over the weekend, recording 31 points, six steals, five rebounds, and three assists. In Friday’s 73-58 win over Quincy, she had a season-high 21 points, grabbing five rebounds, and notching two steals. On Sunday, Bisballe had 10 points, four steals, and two assists in the 104-63 victory over Drury. This season, Bisballe is averaging 14.1 points and shooting 55.9% from the field.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Shea Tripp, Wayne State
Senior forward Shea Tripp contributed a game-high 10 rebounds, including eight defensive boards as WSU rallied for an 81-73 triumph over previously once-beaten Edinboro. Tripp also totaled five steals and two blocks, while playing all 40 minutes.  The five steals in a game are tied-for-fourth among all GLIAC players this season. Her blocked shot with just over one minute left before intermission lead to a Warrior triple and one-point deficit (31-30) after 20 minutes. With WSU trailing 33-32 early in the third period, her steal led to a triple and Wayne State's first lead of the game at 35-33. After tying the game at 50-50 63 seconds into the fourth quarter, her steal and lay-up put the Warriors ahead for good (the game was tied three more times). Besides notching her fourth double-double of the season, Tripp also moved closer to 1,000 career points with her total now at 979.  She is fifth in the GLIAC in steals per game (2.4).
