GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following Week 10 of the 2024 football season. Davenport redshirt freshman quarterback Mac VandenHout earned GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week honors, Davenport grad defensive back Cameren Grodhaus was named GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week and Wayne State grad placekicker Griffin Milovanski was selected for GLIAC Special Teams Player of the Week recognition.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Mac VandenHout, Davenport
Davenport redshirt freshman quarterback Mac VandenHout showed out in his first career start against Northern Michigan accounted for four touchdowns in the 52-31 victory over the Wildcats. He rushed for two touchdowns in the second quarter and also had two touchdown passes in the second half. He threw a 77-yard score to Hakeem Harris on the final play of the third quarter. It was the second-longest pass play of the season for the Panthers. He then found Peyton Carder on his first receiving score this season from 38 yards late in the fourth quarter. He finished with 156 passing yards and 113 rushing yards.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Cameren Grodhaus, Davenport
Davenport defensive back Cameren Grodhaus had the highest tackle total of any NCAA division against Northern Michigan with 25 tackles in the 52-31 win. He also set the school record for tackles surpassing 20 by Kye Black in October 2019 versus Ferris State. He made 14 solo stops and now has 91 total tackles this season. He needs nine next week to become just the second Panther to hit 100 in a season and 10 to tie Jalen Robinson's 101 tackles in 2021 for the single-season record at Davenport.
SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Griffin Milovanski, Wayne State
Griffin Milovanski broke two WSU career records in Saturday's win over Roosevelt. Midway through the fourth quarter, he made his fifth PAT of the contest extending his streak to 66 consecutive PATs eclipsing the mark of 65 set by Stefan Terleckyj in 2011-13. Five minutes later he broke another Terleckyj record for most career field goals at 40 with a 48-yard boot. It was his fifth field goal of at least 40 yards this season. Milovanski is 9-of-10 on field goals this year from inside 50 yards and has made 16 career field goals from at least 40 yards. In addition, moved into third place all-time amongst WSU kickers with 209 career points. Milovanski also recorded three touchbacks on seven kickoffs vs. RU.
