2024-25 Ferris State Women's Basketball Season Preview

The Ferris State University women’s basketball squad enters the 2024-25 campaign as the nation’s preseason #15 squad and the Bulldogs return a strong nucleus for the upcoming campaign.

A year ago, the Bulldogs reached the NCAA Division II national semifinals for the first time in program history and finished as the country’s number three team overall.

The Bulldog women's basketball squad also won the school's first NCAA Division II Midwest Region Championship last season en route to a first-ever D2 Elite Eight appearance and eventual berth into the D2 Final Four. FSU closed the historic 2023-24 season with a school-record 26 victories under head coach Kurt Westendorp.

While Ferris State graduated three key seniors from a year ago, including All-GLIAC honorees Chloe Idoni and Mallory McCartney, the Bulldogs do welcome back nine letter winners this year, including an all-conference choice in Kadyn Blanchard.

Additionally, the Bulldogs return several other key players such as senior forward DeShonna Day, senior guard Kenzie Bowers, junior guard Elle Irwin and junior forward/center Mya Hiram. FSU also added four talented freshmen to the mix for the coming season.

Ferris State will tipoff the 2024-25 season at the Division II Conference Commissioners Association Tipoff Classic on Nov. 2-3 in St. Joseph, Mo. The event will take place where last year ended at the St. Joseph Civic Center, which hosted the D2 Elite Eight last season.

The Bulldogs will play their opening four games on the road in back-to-back trips to Missouri before the home opener on Saturday, Nov. 16, against Grace Christian inside Jim Wink Arena.
