BAY CITY, Mich. -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced weekly awards following the sixth weekend of the 2017 volleyball season. Northwood senior outside hitter Allison Getty earned GLIAC Volleyball North Division honors, while Davenport junior middle blocker Jessica Marvin captured South Division accolades.
NORTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Allison Getty, Northwood
Northwood senior outside hitter Allison Getty reached a pair of milestones in a week where Northwood posted a pair of impressive 3-0 victories. In NU's 3-0 win over Wayne State, she had 10 kills, 15 digs and three blocks. Getty then had 13 kills, 23 digs and three blocks in Northwood's 3-0 win over Grand Valley State. Getty reached the 1,000 mark for both digs and blocks for her career, becoming the fourth player in program history to reach those marks.
SOUTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Jessica Marvin, Davenport
Davenport junior middle blocker Jessica Marvin had her best week of the season for the Panthers as they pulled into a tie for second in the GLIAC South just one back of Wayne State. Marvin was instrumental in the wins over Lake Superior State and Saginaw Valley State in Grand Rapids. She totaled 23 kills and a .308 attack percentage in the middle for DU. Marvin also averaged 1.13 blocks per set for the week.
