GVSU Selected as Top Seed in Women's Soccer Midwest Regional

INDIANAPOLIS – No. 3 Grand Valley State women’s soccer begins the NCAA Tournament by hosting two matches beginning on Friday. Quincy and Wisconsin-Parkside will play Friday, Nov. 11 and the winner will take on the Lakers on Sunday, Nov. 13 at 1:00 p.m.
GVSU (18-0-2, 15-0 GLIAC) enters the tournament as the No. 1 seed in the Midwest Region and the No. 3 team in the nation. Wisconsin-Parkside (12-3-2) is the No. 5 seed and Quincy (15-4-2) is the No. 4 seed.
The Lakers hosted notched a 3-0 win over Quincy in 2010 in the Midwest Regional. GVSU holds a 10-0 all-time record against Quincy. The Hawks finished in second place in the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament defeating then-ranked No. 10 Northern Kentucky in a shootout and dropping a 2-1 decision to Bellarmine.
UW-Parkside entered the week ranked in fifth in the NSCAA Midwest Regional Poll. The Rangers fell to the eventual-GLVC Champion Bellarmine, 2-1, in overtime of the conference semifinals. All four times that UW-Parkside has reached the postseason, the Rangers have faced Grand Valley State. The Rangers are 2-2 in those meetings with victories in 2004 and 2008.
